In early 1992, entrepreneur Brian Ganos purchased a former ready mix facility in order to accommodate his growing construction firm. At that time, he utilized the site for equipment storage and office space, while allowing the concrete plant to remain dormant. It was after deciding to enter the ready mix business that Brian discovered the old plant would need significant repairs to become operational.

Rather than repair the plant, Brian decided to form a partnership with the dominant concrete supplier of that time, Tews Concrete. The venture provided Tews Concrete with a minority presence in the Milwaukee market while helping Brian launch Sonag Ready Mix (Ganos spelled backwards) in 1994. For several years, the venture benefited both companies, however, things would soon change.

In 1996, Tews Concrete completed a leveraged buyout with an overseas corporation. Shortly thereafter, problems began to arise within the company and it struggled to adjust to the Milwaukee market. Recognizing the joint venture may not last, Brian made the decision to offer Nick Rivecca, a twenty-year veteran in the ready mix industry, a partnership position within Sonag Ready Mix.

Utilizing his extensive knowledge of the concrete industry, Nick Rivecca began to assemble a veteran team to help build this young company. In a very short amount of time, the single plant and six-truck operation began to grow, justifying serious repairs to the old facilities. In less than one year after construction of the plant began, Sonag Ready Mix batched and hauled its first official load of concrete to the Edward E. Gillen Company in May of 2001.

Since the first load of concrete left the Sonag Ready Mix plant, a tremendous amount has changed for the company. Sonag Ready Mix added a south side facility in 2002 and has now expanded its truck fleet to over forty ready mix trucks. Undoubtedly, Sonag Ready Mix has established itself as a premier union supplier in the Milwaukee market.

" It is impossible to predict the future, but things are heading in the right direction, and if we continue to work hard and deliver an outstanding product, I’m optimistic of our future."
- Nick Rivecca, President of Sonag Ready Mix

When we had a designed speck mix that wasn't working with the field conditions, Sonag Ready Mix was willing to work with the engineers and Hunzinger Construction to adjust the mix so that it would work better for us, as well as meet the specifications of the engineers.
